MNCFC Recruitment: Post of Consultant


Mahalanobis National Crop Forecast Centre (MNCFC) is a national centre under Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers’ Welfare (DAC & FW), Government of India.

MNCFC invites applications from candidates who fulfil the eligibility criteria for the post of Consultant on purely contractual and temporary basis.


JOB DETAILS:

MNCFC Recruitment: Post of Consultant


1. Post Name: Consultant.

2. No. of Posts: 02.

3. Location: The selected Consultant will be deployed at MNCFC, New Delhi. The post would involve extensive touring in different parts of the country for programme monitoring and management.

4. Scale of Pay: The Consultant shall be paid Rs. 1,00,000/- per month.

5. Job Type: Contractual and temporary basis through a Service Provider, engaged by MNCFC.

6. Age Limit: 60 years as on 31st July, 2020.

7. Essential Qualifications: 
i. M.Sc. (Agriculture/ Statistics/ Remote Sensing & GIS) or Ph. D. (Agriculture/ Statistics/ Remote Sensing & GIS). 
ii. National/State Level Project management related to natural resources OR At least 5 papers in Peer Reviewed Journals.

8. Experience: Minimum 10 years’ experience (8 years for Ph. D.) in any of the following fields: 
i. Remote Sensing Applications in Agriculture. 
ii. Agriculture Statistics/Field Survey. 
iii. Crop Modelling/Crop Yield Estimation.

9. Last Date of Application: 15.08.2020.

Candidates will be screened based on their eligibility and in the order of merit of as per their academic record and experience based on their Curriculum Vitae (CV).
Screened in candidates will be called by the service provider for interview (physical/online) by an expert committee, in New Delhi. 
Combined overall performance to be assessed based on Interview (50%) and CV (50%) shall be deciding factor.

Mahalanobis National Crop Forecast Centre (MNCFC) is a national centre under Department of Agriculture, Cooperation & Farmers’ Welfare (DAC & FW), Government of India, located in Pusa Campus, New Delhi, engaged in use of space technology for agricultural applications. 

The Centre collaborates with 19 state agriculture departments, 15 state horticulture departments, 3 ISRO centres (SAC, NRSC & NESAC), 8 ICAR (Indian Council of Agricultural Research) institutes, India Meteorological Department and many other national and international organizations.

MNCFC is executing various national level projects, such as FASAL (Forecasting Agricultural output using Space, Agrometerology and Land based observations); NADAMS (National Agricultural Drought Assessment and Monitoring System) and CHAMAN (Coordinated Horticulture Assessment and Management using geoinformatics).Support to PMFBY(Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna) These projects envisage use of Remote Sensing data and GIS tools for Crop Production Forecasting, Drought Monitoring, Horticulture Assessment & Development, Crop Insurance, respectively. 

Under PMFBY, government is conducting large number of Pilot Studies through various agencies. There is requirement regularly monitoring and reviewing these studies. Also, various Technology Applications are being implemented in PMFBY, for Smart Sampling, CCE optimisation, Yield Dispute Resolution, Area Discrepancy Resolution, etc. There is a need to regularly monitor these activities.
